Middle School Math Program

Solve the problem of how to help your student have a great relationship with math.

Our Approach

For some students, learning math is what makes them happy. For others, not so much. Either way, between explaining key concepts and helping them see how math applies to everyday life, teaching math to your student can be a challenge. You know that math can help them cultivate critical thinking skills and mental horsepower in ways no other subject can, and you want them to enjoy and feel confident about this part of their education—not like it’s a grind. Our unique Middle School Math Program is on your side.

New for 2025-26, we’re transforming the way students learn math with Derivita, an interactive platform that adapts to your student’s skill level and provides instant, step-by-step feedback. Derivita gives students smarter practice and helps mentors identify strengths, struggles, and skill gaps in real time—so every student can get the support they need to grow.

In live math courses, students meet four times per week with a certified teacher—what we call a mentor—who leads them through simulations and modeling workshops that reveal the meaning and beauty behind the math. Mentors also guide hands-on problem-solving sessions that help students build fluency and confidence using Derivita. For students in 8th grade (Intro to HS Math), we also offer a self-paced option supported by mentor office hours.

While taking these courses, students transform their relationship with math. They open their eyes to the invisible, ordered world of numbers all around them. Most of all, they develop a growth mindset that allows them to tackle new problems with a sense of comfort and confidence in their ability to learn new things—in math and in life.

Please note that program and course descriptions are subject to change as we continuously improve our curriculum throughout the year. Some courses require subscriptions e.g., Adobe software or online magazines that may not be covered by partner schools. Required books and materials are noted in this document, in SIS, and on individual course pages.
