High School Electives Program

Expose your student to new tools and resources in subjects that engage them.

How we guide your student

Your student has a unique set of interests—it’s part of what makes them who they are. As they grow up and experience more of life, they resonate with certain kinds of opportunities. You want them to pursue the things that excite them while earning credit and experience that will help them in college and beyond. To support this goal, we have a robust and wide-ranging selection of self-paced High School Electives.

Students are welcome to enroll in whichever electives most interest them. Full-time students who plan to graduate using The Williamsburg Curriculum should make sure their chosen electives fit their graduation plan. In general, full-time students have room for no more than three elective credits. (Many students also choose to complete two credits in a second language to increase the competitiveness of their college applications, leaving them with only one credit for electives.) Students can also use any excess credit in another subject area to fulfill their required elective credits.

By completing a self-paced elective, students gain exposure to the latest ideas, tools, and resources available in a field that interests them, providing a foundation that will support them in future academic and work projects.

Please note that program and course descriptions are subject to change as we continuously improve our curriculum throughout the year. Some courses require subscriptions e.g., Adobe software or online magazines that may not be covered by partner schools. Required materials are noted in SIS and on individual course pages.
